Job Description
Main Activities & Responsibilities
•Carry out full and comprehensive watchkeeping rounds in all main machinery spaces, as per Fleet Regulations
•Ensure equipment knowledge is sufficient to instigate the safe operation and maintenance of the main machinery spaces
•Carry out routine logs as instructed by AMOS
•Perform watchkeeping duties specific to vessel and particular watch as required
•Carry out additional logs created by ship personnel
•Bring forward any engine room defects to the attention of the senior watchkeepers, remedy where possible, or report to relevant engineering staff
•Assess and take preliminary actions in a machinery space emergency
•Assist the Electro-Technical/Ventilation Departments as required
General
•Perform Emergency duties associated with rank
•Perform duties associated with the machinery outside watchkeeping hours as required
•Socialising and mixing with guests in a courteous manner as required
Requirements
British OOW Motor Certificate or elegibility to be issued with a Certificate of Equivalent Competency by the UK Marine and Coastguard Agency
• Excellent command of English Language, both written and spoken
• Valid ENG1 Medical Certification
• STCW Fire Fighting Certification
• Eligible for issue of a United States C1/D Visa
• Knowledge and experience of modern marine plant, ideally onboard cruise liners
• Good IT Skills, and ability to manipulate modern Windows based packages
• Ability to work as part of a large team, and take responsibility for own actions
• Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external customers
• Commitment to own career development, with a desire to progress to higher ranks
Salary & Benefits
3 months on-1 1/2 months off leave ratio or 4 months on-2months off leave ratio.
