Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all Engine Room Plant whilst on watch
•Responsible for environmental compliance of plant operations and upkeep of associated paperwork (Oil Record Book, Bilge Water Transfer Log, Sewage Log, Garbage Log, Oil Interface Log, Grey Water Log)
•To assess and take preliminary actions in Emergency
•Monitoring of plant performance
•Co-ordination and control of watch keeping personnel
•Training of watchkeeping personnel
•Completion of maintenance as set out in AMOS
•Inspection, assessment and reporting or rectification of defects occurring whilst on watch
•Co-ordination of isolations
•Watchkeeping rounds
•Watch-specific routines for the vessel
•Co-ordination of duty personnel to rectify hotel defects reported to ECR
•Liaise with Electro-Technical/Ventilation departments
•Shut-down testing as required
•Cadet training
•Keep informed Senior Department Officers on all aspects of the machinery spaces
•Supervision of Junior Officers and Ratings
General
•Perform Emergency duties associated with rank
•Perform duties associated with the machinery outside watchkeeping hours as required
•Socialising and mixing with guests in a courteous manner as required
Requirements
• British Class 2 (Motor) Certificate, or Eligibility to be issued with a Certificate of Equivalent Competency by the UK Marine and Coastguard Agency
• Excellent command of English Language, both written and spoken
• Valid ENG1 Medical Certification or equivalent certificate
• STCW Fire Fighting Certification
• Eligible for issue of a United States C1/D Visa
• Knowledge and experience of modern marine plant, ideally onboard cruise liners
• Good IT Skills, and ability to manipulate modern Windows based packages
• Ability to work as part of a large team, and take responsibility for own actions
• Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external customers
• Commitment to own career development, with a desire to progress to higher ranks
