Active, current medical license in good standing in Country or State/Providence of origin• A minimum of 5 years clinical experience after completion of recognized post M.D. training program.• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support within one year of application.• Renewal of ACLS every 2 years with practical experience in ACLS.• Formal training and experience in at least one of the following:o Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Internal Medicine, Cardiology or General Surgery• Ability to diagnose and treat a broad range of medical conditions.• Ability to perform minor surgery such as suturing, removal of benign skin lesions, removal of foreign objects, removal of ingrown toenails, identification of and immobilizing of simple fractures.• Fluent in English language, verbal and written.• Be able to pass a comprehensive pre-employment physical examination and drug test.• Supply three letters of recommendations from medical institutions or medical specialists or a combination of both.• Supply a chronology of all medical activities since graduating from Medical College.• The Doctor’s primary responsibility is as the Master’s and the Staff Captain’s adviser on all matters related to hospital services, passenger and crewmember health and the hygienic condition onboard.• Supervising daily medical consultations for passenger and crewmembers and keeping the Master advised of all matters of consequence.• Responsible for all medications and drugs onboard, and shall at all times keep a good control with the inventory in accordance with the Company’s regulations and requirements. At least once a month or when there is a change in medical staff, a drug count shall be held, and the Staff Captain shall be present to verify.• The Doctor shall be a member of both, the Management and Crew Safety and Environmental Committee. This committee will recommend safety practices and corrective measures for the prevention of accidents to passengers and crew.• Supervise the administrative procedures for treatments of illnesses, injuries and deaths in accordance with the applicable regulations.• The Doctor shall perform in Weekly Sanitation inspections together with the ship’s management.• Provide competent medical care to both passengers and crew.• Oversee inventory of medical supplies and monitor hospital budget.• Participate in inspections of the galley and food handling areas.Salary: $6,000 - $8,400 US per month (approx £3,000 - £4,200 per month)Cruise Ship Doctor/PhysicianTreatment mostly to crew and sometimes passengers, if required. Current license, extensive experience with cardiac and primary care, trauma, internal and emergency medicine required. Possibilities for promotion to Chief Doctor.Salary: $5,000 - $6,000 US per month (approx £2,500 - £3,000 per month)Cruise Ship Registered Nurse:• Bachelors of Science in Nursing or equivalent.• A minimum of 3 years clinical experience after graduation.• Valid nursing license in Country, or State/Providence of origin.• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 1 year of application.• Practical experience in ACLS.• Prefer background in Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit or Coronary Care Unit.• Ability to manage Basic Life support until the physician arrives.• Fluent in English language, verbal and written.• Supply three letters of recommendations from medical institutions and/or supervisors.• Supply a chronology of all medical activities since graduation from nursing school.• Supply documentation of all of the above.• Maintain passenger illness log and medical notes. Complete all paperwork associated with various medical situations.• Maintain crew illness log and crew medical files. This file shall accompany the crewmember from ship to ship in accordance with company policy.• Maintain injury log and fill out accident reports as they arise.• Maintain current crew physicals.• Maintain diarrhoea log for U.S.P.H. and send weekly U.S.P.H. fax.• Maintain records of hospital charges and take to accountant daily.• Execute and have knowledge of Code Alpha procedure.• Execute and have knowledge of air and land evacuation procedures• Train and lead stretcher team in Fire and Lifeboat drills.• Restock first aid boxes frequently.• Obtain water samples and cultures for growth of E-Coli twice weekly. Take samples before supplying of F/W commence.• Weekly check of emergency equipment and maintenance of all equipment.• Sterilize surgical instruments.• Order medical supplies and equipment. Maintain proper levels of inventory AMOS-D.• Properly dispose of used and dirty sharps (needles, syringes)• Maintain hospital, clinic and office in a clean and orderly fashion.• Maintain records and counts of narcotics.• Assist in mandatory drug testing.• Ensure confidentiality of medical information.Salary: $2,500 - $3,200 US per month (approx £1,250 - £1,600 per month)THE ABOVE SALARIES ARE AVERAGE SALARIES. IN ADDITION YOUR FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION IS INCLUDED AND YOUR SALARY IS NORMALLY TAX FREE IF YOUR CONTRACT IS FOR SIX MONTHS AND OVER.
